I cannot emphasise enough how marvellous it was to stay near a Hbf. We took our breakfast (as usual) at Munich Hbf and “dabao” some food for the train journey. While we were having our breakfast, we saw many police officers at the station. At first we were worried about any possible strike, but turned out there were a soccer match, either the day before or on the day itself. There were really a lot of drunken soccer fans on the bahn train.
It would be a long and complicated train journey.
We had to change trains four times. Trust me, no matter how long or how short was the transfer time, you would be (just) in time as long as you walk briskly/run in the right direction. We were greedy and stocked up a lot of basic necessities like mineral water, which resulted in extremely heavy luggage. Not really a wise choice.
Something to note, you can't reserve seats once it's out of Germany. It is still ok for us as the train to Switzerland wasn't that packed, but if you are taking to popular destinations like Paris, then you might have to sit on your luggage. Alternative choice is to take Class 1, which would be much more expensive and unlikely to be crowded.
Beautiful scenery greeted us when we were taking the train from Lauterbrunnen up to Wengen. We could finally catch our breath and enjoy the ride after the last transfer.
We reached our Airbnb place. It was pretty dirty and dusty. The only redeeming point was that it had great view.
We quickly went to the Coop at Wengen to purchase our groceries as it would close at 1830. After our dinner, the sky was still very bright, and we just walked around and enjoyed the view.
